Pine Lodge Steakhouse and Saloon (as well as Smiley’s Bar & Grill and Fun Zone) is located on
farmland once owned by Vesta Enlow McSpaden. Her husband constructed a stone home on the
property upon returning from WWII in the mid-1940’s. The 38 acres of real estate was
purchsed by Jonathan Kessler et. al. in 1987 and “The Fort” was developed. Pine Lodge
Steakhouse was built in just 82 days and in time to open the weekend before Memorial Day
Pine Lodge offers freshly prepared food at a great value. Our dining experience feels like
a secluded mountain retreat with exceptional views, knowledgeable staff, and a casual and
relaxed atmosphere. Serving only the finest cuts of beef, fresh seafood like jumbo lump
crab cakes and Pacific Rim Ahi Tuna, BBQ Baby Back Ribs, and more. A specialty of the house,
and as must have, is the famous creamy crab soup- it’s a favorite among the locals.

This is a great place to gather with friends after a day of having fun at Wisp! The menu is varied enough that all ages can find something they’ll enjoy. While the food didn’t blow us away, it was good and the server was very friendly and accommodating.
My husband and I stopped for a celebration dinner after a day of hiking at Swallow Falls and Blackwater Falls state parks. We could not have picked a better place to celebrate. The food was amazing, the waitress was very attentive and helpful, the atmosphere was so relaxing and did I say the food was amazing! My husband had the crab cakes and I had the crab and filet. Both meals were done to perfection! The sides were extremely small but we were forewarned of this by our waitress so we ordered ala carte sides as well. The food is a bit pricey but the quality makes it worth every penny. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area!
“I’m not sure why this place doesn’t get more stars… every time I’ve been here it’s been fantastic. Their food is made fresh, the servers are always pleasant, and I always leave feeling full and glad that I ate there. In fact, whenever I’m in town, I make it a point to eat here if I can…”
“…The appetizers are good, too. I’ve tried a few of the special apps over the years, which have been great, but always come back to the crab dip. It’s super good and served with both bread and chips. Pine Lodge has great drinks specials too, and some awesome local brews on draft.” December 9, 2014
“We came out last weekend and much to our delight we had wonderful evening. Out food was delicious and our server, Sam, was great to say the least! It was awesome having a nice dinner, cozy environment and fun entertaining server all at the same location! Well done, Pine Lodge! We will definitely be back!” March 15, 2015
“We visited in March, 2015. Ordered the oak barrel steak / crab cake combo and it melted in my mouth! Nice little bar to sit at, but we chose a booth with a view of The Wisp. Nice, clean restaurant!” March 17, 2015
“Pine Lodge is our tradition every time we visit Wisp. The Ahi tuna appetizer was small but very nice. The filet mignon was a perfect cut and cooked just right. Friendly service, pleasant ambiance, great place for a tasty dinner.”
“We have been going to Pine Lodge for many years. We stopped going for a few years. We heard it was really good again. I can say it is! I had the 5oz filet and Lobster tail and the crinkle cut fries. Everything was perfect. Our server Sarah was outstanding and personable. We are so pleased Pine Lodge is back.” -John March 7, 2015
“Our waiter, Mike, was very knowledgeable on both the food and beers offered. Overall a great experience and would recommend eating there if you’re in the area!” March 8, 2015
“The food was phenomenal and SARAH was an amazing server! Great meal after a day at Wisp. The salmon and crab cakes were delicious.” March 7, 2015
“Really liked it. Food was great. Service was wonderful. Great location and close proximity to all of the attractions in Deep Creek Lake.” October 22, 2014
“I was surprised by the variety offered on the menu for being a “Steakhouse”. Even the children’s menu offered appetizing dishes never seen at other restaurants. If you are looking for a good meal, I think this place will suit your needs and satisfy your appetite.” January 6, 2015
“Eating there for awhile, never had a bad meal. Prices are very reasonable and it’s not a stuffy place, very comfortable. Love the open fire place.” February 13, 2015
“This is always a nice place to visit for an “above average” meal. In Deep Creek, there are not many “nice” places to eat in terms of food and atmosphere but this place brings a nice touch to the lake. It’s a huge log cabin style restaurant and is a very good steakhouse. Definitely worth a visit and gives my wife and I a nice place to enjoy a date night at the lake.” January 26, 2015
